SNSで一大トレンドになったアマビエ。江戸時代後期の1846年に、肥後の国（現・熊本県）の海辺に現れたとされています。「私は海中に住むアマビエと申すものである。病が流行するから、早々に私の姿を映して人々に見せよ」と告げたというエピソードから、疫病除けのイメージが先行、多くの人が疫病退散の想いを込めて、「＃アマビエチャレンジ」というハッシュタグをつけ、アマビエのイラストや動画を拡散していきました。一方、熊本地震で大きな被害を受け、「完全復興までに20年かかる」と言われた熊本城は、修復作業経過を市民や観光客に公開する「見せる復興」施策で復興をめざしています。
まだ収まるには時間が掛かりそうなこの状況をどうポジティブに工夫して乗り切るか、熊本城とアマビエと共にフォローしたい、そんな思いをTシャツに載せて拡散できればと思います。

“Amabie” has become a big trend on SNS in this spring. It is said to have appeared at the seaside in Higo no Kuni (now Kumamoto Prefecture) in the late Edo period (1846). It said "My name is Amabie and I live in the sea. For the next six years, plague will be prevalent, draw my picture and show it to people." From this episode, the image of plague control was preceded, many people spread the illustrations and videos of Amabie with the feeling of the plague withdrawal by using SNS.
On the other hand, Kumamoto Castle, which was severely damaged by the Kumamoto earthquake and was said to take 20 years to fully recover, is aiming for reconstruction through a "reconstruction" measure that discloses the progress of restoration work to citizens and tourists.
OTAS would like to follow up with Kumamoto Castle and Amabie on how to positively devise a situation that seems to take time to settle and hope to spread that thought on T-shirts.
